Bonus Episode: New Year, New You: Look and Feel Better Than Ever With Cutting-Edge Hormone Supplements and ED Treatments
Show Notes Transcript

In this episode, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee answer listener questions about testosterone supplementation after a stroke, ED, and cosmetic treatments for loss of penis size. Many men think testosterone supplementation is bad for heart health, but the reverse is actually true. Low T puts you at a higher risk of death from cardiovascular disease. Fortunately, our experts at NAU Urology Specialists  are here to help both men and women find the T supplement regimen that is right for them. Correcting your hormone imbalance is an effective first step towards living your best life at any age.

Regarding our listener's ED question,  supplements come in many forms, from pills and creams to injections, penile stretching, inflatable prostheses, and more! Amazingly, insurance covers many of these options, and out of pocket costs are often lower than expected (usually ranging from $5,000 to $10,000). If you'd like to learn more about treatments for ED or penile enhancement, visit us online or give us a call today!

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Armor Men's Health Show with Dr. Mystery and Donna Lee.

Speaker 3:

Hello and welcome to the Armor Men's Health Show. This is Dr. Mystery , your host, board certified urologist all around. Great guy <laugh> . Joined by my co-host, Donnel Lee .

Speaker 4:

Hello, everybody. I am a great gal.

Speaker 3:

Donnel Lee's a professional comedian, which is why this show goes so smoothly and is sometimes funny.

Speaker 4:

Oh, that's right. Well, thank you. Thanks for laughing at me.

Speaker 3:

Not oftentimes funny, but sometimes funny

Speaker 4:

<laugh> . Well, you know, after Covid, we all tried to bounce back, didn't

Speaker 3:

We? <laugh> many thanks to the FCC for not , uh, punishing us as too much for our content. Right . We love our listeners. Thank you guys so much for listening to us and giving us your feedback. Uh, my , uh, my, my own family recently told me that they heard one of our radio shows and now want pellets for their testosterone.

Speaker 4:

Oh, how funny.

Speaker 3:

I was like, huh, you didn't hear me the last a hundred times that I talked to you about it at like Christmas dinner.

Speaker 4:

<laugh>.

Speaker 3:

Now you want, now you want pellets.

Speaker 4:

I , you know, while you bring that up, I had, there was a patient who saw one of our providers here at the clinic, and he said to her about his wife getting on testosterone. He said, oh, no, no, no, no. I heard Donnel Lee talking about being on testosterone and I don't need my wife on that. And then the provider said, well, what are you talking about? What did Donnel Lee say on the show? And he said that. I said , um, you better look out when I'm on testosterone. I have never said that. I just have said that I have these incredibly vivid, awesome dreams at night. I get my testosterone injection. Yes. And it's just, I just feel like a really awesome B12 shot.

Speaker 3:

I think, I think it's when we had your husband on, he was like, yeah , when Don's on testosterone, you better look out. Oh, whatever. I'm about to get attacked.

Speaker 4:

We do need him on the show to defend his small penis still. Yes. Yes. Anyway, back to your family. So you're gonna , and

Speaker 3:

You high libido . Very good. Are

Speaker 4:

You gonna p pellet your, your peoples?

Speaker 3:

Yes. We're gonna pellet our peoples Dustin in our office, an ex exceptional pellet provider. I'm gonna send 'em to Dustin and Leona and , uh, yeah. They're , they're, they're spectacular. Mm . Donna, how do people get a hold of us and how do people make appointments with us? You

Speaker 4:

Call us about those pellets and we'll just pellet you right away at 5 1 2 2 3 8 0 7 6 2. We have a pretty recent availability. We don't have a wait list anymore. So give us a call and visit our website, armor men's health.com. That's armor men's health.com. Don't forget to listen to your favorite podcast that we do. You can Google us. We are podcast people everywhere. The Armor Men's Health show. That's

Speaker 3:

Wonderful. And your questions are really important part of what we do here. Donna, you have a question for us?

Speaker 4:

I do. I have one from a gentleman who said I was listening to your show again, and I have some questions. Uh, this gentleman has had a mini stroke in the recent past. He was prescribed blood pressure medicine. He's trying to get off of that by doing diet and exercise. So he says he's fairly healthy at about a 200 pounds, about five foot nine. Um, his question is, is subcutaneous testosterone treatment safe for someone like me? And that's his first question. The second question, you've mentioned in the past several times, a penis pump for extending the penis, one to 1.5 inches. Is this penis pump used for the rest of your life or for a period of time that affects that the effects remain, if so, on that period of time? And also, is there a possible, a better parameter, what percentage of enlargement can be expected, if not that one to one and a half inches? That's

Speaker 3:

A great question. Uh, and it's not the same in everyone , and a lot depends on your body habitus when it comes to your penis enlargement. So, okay , 200 pounds, five foot nine would make me feel like he's probably a little bit, you know, a little heavier. A little heavier. And he probably has a fat pad that goes above his penis, that little pupa area.

Speaker 4:

What if he's Arnold Schwarzenegger? He's five foot nine and he's probably 210 pounds perhaps , but he's all

Speaker 3:

Muscle, perhaps. Perhaps indeed. Okay . And I have not seen Arnold Schwarzenegger's, fpa <laugh>, but <laugh> . And so it's

Speaker 4:

Not a fpa <laugh> , it's

Speaker 3:

Not apa, it's not a tumor . And so, and so understanding kind of the anatomy of the person and what they're trying to achieve. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative> , there's the flacid length that they're trying to get longer. Right. There's the erectile length, there's how it looks in the mirror's, how it looks to partners. It can be different from person to person. Okay . Um, and so there are a number of things that we offer surgically to help make your penis grow bigger. Uh , Dr. David Dellinger, one of our great partners, does a silicone based , um, uh, injection of filler that makes it bigger all around . Mm-Hmm . <affirmative> circumference. We can do things like a suspensory ligament transection that makes it longer, but it hangs down. So,

Speaker 4:

So you snip something, right? That's right . And then it hangs down.

Speaker 3:

And then some guys, as they are getting older, their , uh, scrotum actually when they get an erection kind of rides up that can be based upon a , a , a pediatric circumcision that may have taken off too much skin. So we can do what's called a scroop plasty where we bring the bottom of the scrotum kind of , uh, you know , beneath the, beneath the penis, like closer to the base of the penis that'll give you, I mean, sometimes we've had people get like four or five inches of, of visible length really improved from it. Uh , wow. And then of course, our ectomy, which is a big word that just means that we take off that upper fat pad , uh, with liposuction and, and surgery and, and, and help make it look bigger. And believe it or not, many of things are , these things are actually covered by insurance. And why really?

Speaker 4:

Because men are more important than women <laugh> . That's why, because the men are in , uh, Congress,

Speaker 3:

We are in charge. That's right. And so , and so , and so as that happens , um, uh, we can have , um, you know , better , uh, visible and visual appearance of our penis being longer. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative> . Now we've used a couple of things. There's a penile stretching device. Uh, a couple of them include the andro penis , A-N-D-R-O penis , B-E-N-I-S , uh, the restore X device. Also, these are, these are penile stretching devices. So this takes your flacid penis and stretches. It

Speaker 4:

Is this different than a vacuum erection device

Speaker 3:

That is different from a vacuum erection device. Okay. These things do not require you to get an erection. They just kind of pull your penis and you gotta wear it maybe 30 minutes, twice a day. Um, it works , uh, very well. Uh , really?

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Especially if

Speaker 4:

You're , it sounds like hog washed

Speaker 3:

To me. Skinnier. I mean, it's just pulling on

Speaker 4:

It. Is it like when you have a slightly damped sweater and you want the, the arms to be longer, so you pull the arm, you pull it a little bit, and then they're just longer. That's right. Okay. Well, that's amazing.

Speaker 3:

Or , or a partner who will just pull on it for 30 minutes.

Speaker 4:

So don't do this to the vagina, is what you're saying,

Speaker 3:

<laugh> . That's right.

Speaker 4:

Leave the labia alone.

Speaker 3:

You don't wanna pull those things.

Speaker 4:

You don't want any flapping. That's right. Okay. No

Speaker 3:

Flapping. And so, so you have that. And then the vacuum erection device also similarly takes, now we take the, the erect penis and make it longer, and you have to use it Mm . And keep it on there for a certain time period to kind of stretch the penis. Uh, and those are gonna be your best options for a non-surgical approach for , uh, penile length enhancement.

Speaker 4:

Okay .

Speaker 3:

One of the hardest things for a patient is bringing it up with a doctor. Mm . And so, at least if you're out there and you're worried about it, you know, please let us know. Right . Because that's what we talk about and that's what we do. And we have different treatments that , that help you.

Speaker 4:

Or you could tell Dr . Donna

Speaker 3:

When it comes to your flacid penis, if you just wanna hang lower daily to dala fill , just works like a child . Really ? Yeah.

Speaker 4:

You , you guys just wanna walk around hanging over .

Speaker 3:

Oh my God. It , it just feels like, it feels like you're ready to play baseball anytime . Stop. Oh yeah. Really?

Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah. Y'all just wanna walk around swinging it around like an

Speaker 3:

Elephant . Oh, yeah. It's not erect even, it's just, it's just more, it's just longer in a flad state.

Speaker 4:

Is that for other guys? So they see your penis as bigger and they're , you're like, oh my God, look at that guy's penis. You

Speaker 3:

Really think of men really weird <laugh> after a certain age, we're not even showering together. You understand? Like the golf club. I know . First of all, you don't shower at the golf club anyway. You don't, and in the gym, they have private showers.

Speaker 4:

Oh, are we there? Yeah ,

Speaker 3:

That's , that's right. We're not 18 at this point. You know what I'm saying? <laugh> , if you're a man out there and you're showering publicly with other men, I would pick a different gym. Stop that

Speaker 4:

<laugh> , stop that

Speaker 3:

Immediately. It's probably, it's probably a

Speaker 4:

Public welcome to the Jeffrey Epstein University,

Speaker 3:

A public bathhouse <laugh>. But , but that's not what we're talking about. Okay. And so we're just talking about a , a bigger flacid penis. The daily to fil works like a charm. Hmm . The second question , uh, or the first question this listener asked was about the safety of testosterone in the post cardiovascular accident kind

Speaker 4:

Of domain. Mm-Hmm . <affirmative> . We get that a lot now.

Speaker 3:

And so a mini stroke is a funny word that is to be used.

Speaker 4:

Is that like saying, I had a stroke, but not really me ,

Speaker 3:

<laugh> , <laugh> a little bit pregnant. I mean, you, you had a stroke or you didn't, and if you didn't have a stroke, then you had a TIA, which is called a transient ischemic attack. Okay. And if they put you on blood pressure medicine, you probably had a stroke. Hmm . And if you had a stroke , uh, then we wanna make sure that your blood pressure is controlled, even if you try to control it with diet and exercise, which I, which I'm very big fan of these kinds of things. Yeah. You also wanna be on a medicine that does not interrupt your erection. So beta blockers, any , uh, blood pressure medicine that is ends with an ol atenolol. Metoprolol, these things are called beta blockers, and they're known to both cause erectile dysfunction. And I feel probably caused a little bit of penile shrinking from the, the lack of nerve response and blood response into the penis. And so we wanna get you onto a medicine that doesn't cause that. Okay. Uh , if you've had a recent heart attack or you have , uh, other kinds of cardiac conditions, sometimes you're stuck on it. But , uh, there's no evidence to date that subcutaneous or any other form of testosterone's gonna worsen cardiovascular disease. In fact, there was a , a report that was done recently that debunked a commonly held myth that started 10 years ago or 12 years ago, that testosterone led to heart attacks. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative> , it's low testosterone that leads to stroke and heart attack. Hmm . Not testosterone replacement therapy.

Speaker 4:

I feel like we need to shout that from the, the rooftops.

Speaker 3:

Well, trust me, we've been shouting that for women when it comes to their hormone therapy. But there's this narrative that hormone replacement therapy in women is dangerous to them. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative> . But if you're 49 and you just went through menopause and you're not looking to lose your, you know, skin and hair quality, you want to have your libido, you wanna maintain your cognitive functioning, I mean, and , and cardiovascular health and Alzheimer's and breast cancer risk , all of these things are improved with hormone replacement therapy. You have to go to someone that's open to understanding the data and giving you the right treatments. Mm . So when it comes to the subq testosterone, I certainly promote it. And we do it certainly here. We will work with your cardiologist and your , uh, neurologist , uh, to kind of make sure that we're doing something that they're comfortable with, because we don't want to, you know, upset your doctors. Mm-Hmm . Uh , but we are gonna be your doctors. You know, when you come and see us. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative> . And so when patients want to come see us, Donna, how do they do this?
